Old Demo Reel

I just realized I never posted my old demo reel. This is all work I created around 4 years ago. I have learned a lot over the years. At some point I will create a demo reel with all of the professional work I have had the pleasure of being a part of. Until then, enjoy a trip down memory lane.  (Note-The video looks better on Vimeo)

Zombie Bust Sculpture

Here is a WIP of a zombie bust I was working on. I think I am done sculpting, I just need to find time to paint him.

First Oil Paintings

One of my goals this year is to learn how to paint in oils. I am starting with simpler stuff for now and trying to figure out how they work. This is a result of some simple oil paintings. They took around 30-45 mins a piece. I didn't want to waste time going back over them or spending time adding a lot of detail. These are purely for learning how the paints go down and how to mix colors together. I am starting to enjoy them a bit more. I am excited to see where this goes.

Troll Sculpt

This is a sculpt I worked on awhile back. I am done sculpting it, I just need to paint it. I will be sure to post pictures when I finish this guy up. Enjoy :)

Before I baked it.

After it was cleaned up, baked, primed and ready to be painted.

Watercolor Christmas cards

Hard to believe we are half way through January. Time is moving way to fast.

Here are the final Christmas cards I made for my family this year.

This was just a test to see what the ornaments would look like. I wasn't original going to do a card like this but I was showing someone how you would go about making something look this way and liked the end result.

Here are the 8 cards I did this year for Christmas. My cellphone didn't take the best of pictures but you get the idea.

Warm up watercolor Christmas card.

Here are some test I did for some Christmas cards this year. Luckily I found some other great blogs that had helpful hints and tricks for making them look and feel like snow. I will post the cards in my next post.

Watercolor city to shoreline

These are some paintings I did back in July of 2013. I was trying to keep shoreline ones really lose and quick and also try out some stuff with pen. Not sure which one I like the most.

 Dallas skyline. 4 1/4 x 9 in.

Lake house in New York for 4th of July. These are pretty small. They were done on one sheet of 5 1/4 in. by 8 1/2 in. cut in to 3 pieces.

Early Watercolor work.

These pictures are from a workshop I took in June of 2013 at Oil and Cotton in Dallas. The instructor was the very talented Kyle Hobratschk. I learned a lot from that class and it really jumped started my interest in watercolors. Here are some paintings I did, from life, for that workshop.

As always, more to come :)

Cyclops Sculpt

This is a sculpt I did a little while ago. It was sculpted in Super Sculpey and painted with watercolors. More sculpts to come. Enjoy :)

Here is a picture of the finale sculpt.

Here is the very first stage. He looks a little rough but I am just laying in the shapes.

Here I finished getting in the big shapes and added a ball baring for his eye. Still have a lot of sculpting to do.

A lot has changed from the last picture. The rod I had him on ended up working its way through the head and destroying all the work I did on the top. I ended up taking out that rod and switching him to a bigger piece of pipe so I could keep most of the work I had already done for his face. Then I started to paint him and do laundry ;)

Here is some more painting. I started to really work in some smaller detail and paint out the eye, to make it feel more like the finished piece.

Here is the finished paint job, minus the eye and all of the shine I add at the end.
This is the finished eye and he is pretty much done.

This is the end result. I had a hard time getting some really good pictures. He is a lot more green in person but all and all, I am pretty happy with him. Time to put him on my shelf and move on.
